Mamelodi Sundowns look like they’re about to go on yet another signing spree in this January transfer window!

Sundowns are set to wrap up the signing of Bafana Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams, with more to come.

Adams will join Sundowns from Stellenbosch FC after the two clubs agreed on a transfer fee. Now as the wait continues for the official confirmation there could be two announcements back to back. According to iDiski Times, Masandawana have also agreed on terms to sign centre-back Lucas Suárez from Club Atlético Talleres

Sundowns agree loan deal for Suarez

“Mamelodi Sundowns are closing in on the services of Lucas Suárez from Club Atlético Talleres on loan for the rest of the season. Suárez, 29, is poised to join Sundowns for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent. He ironically joins from the club Matias Esquivel spent the last six months on loan, with the midfielder set to return to Chloorkop this month. The left-footed centre-back amassed four caps for the Argentina U20 national team and featured 66 times for Tallares over the past two years since joining from Estudiantes RC.” Wrote the publication.

Were linked with Cupido

This comes as no surprise as just this week, Sundowns were linked with the signing of another centre-back. That being Cape Town City and Bafana Bafana international Keanu Cupido. The player has been blighted with injuries recently, however, and it perhaps makes sense why he hasn’t been signed. The club currently have Malibongwe Khoza, Grant Kekana, Mothobi Mvala, Rushine de Rueck and Mosa Lebusa as centre-back options. They can also call on the services of Rivaldo Coetzee in that position. Suarez is expected to come in and add more competition until the end of the season.

Much needed squad depth?

Sundowns have the league, Nedbank Cup, CAF Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup to content with. The additions of Suarez and Adams are set to be crucial in maintain squad depth and competition.
